SOLDIERS’ DANCE i w ENJOYABLE GATHERING, (“Times-Age” Special.) Another successful dance for soldiers was held in the Town Hall on Satur- ' I day night. Udy’s Orchestra supplied j the music and extras were played by Miss Janet Allen and party. Pipers Newman, Mills and R. Stewart also played much appreciated extras. Mr Peter Habib again carried out the duties of M.C. The Lucky Spot dance was won by Trooper J. Burt and Miss Bean Burt. The junior committee had charge of the supper arrangements, and carried out their work in a very efficient manner. The table decorations were the work of Mrs Alexander. Euchre Party. The winners at the euchre party held for patriotic purposes were: —Mrs Elder I,' Mr Dick Holland 2. Lucky number: Mrs Shepherd. A competi-, lion was won by Mr Fred Clark. Personal. The Rev. J. R. Higgs, who recently underwent a knee operation in a Wellington Hospital, is reported to be progressing satisfactorily toward recovery. Hayshed Destroyed by Fire. A hayshed, the property of Mr J. A. Halpin, Re,vans Street, was burnt down last night between 5 and 6 o’clock. The fire, brigade were soon on the scene and quickly prevented a belt of trees burning and causing further damage. Croquet. In the Haunui Croquet Club’s A grade championship on Saturday, Miss Esma Card beat Miss Nix 26/17, 26/12, and Mrs Hankers, 26/3, 26/5. COSY THEATRE WEDNESDAY’S PROGRAMME. Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier are co-starred in “Lady Hamilton,” the most brilliant film of the year, which will be shown on Wednesday. (Recommended by the Censor for Adults).
