CROQUET CHAMPIONSHIP CONTEST. (“Times-Age” Special.) In a B grade championship match for the Haunui Cup yesterday, Mrs Symons beat Mrs White, 26/15 and 26/23. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs L. McKenna have received a cable from their son, Sergt. McKenna, R.N.Z.A.F., England, saying that he is safe and well. Mrs A. Hall (Alfredton), Mrs Butler and Mrs Crawnshaw (Wellington), are the guests of Mrs L. McKenna, Pahautea. Soldiers’ Recreation Room. A sub-committee of the Patriotic Committee has been appointed to control a recreation room for soldiers in Featherston. The old District High School has been obtained and alterations and improvements are now in hand. The building will be furnished chiefly from the Anzac Hall. Facilities will be provided for reading, writing, games, teas, etc. Mr H. C. Hunter is chairman of the committee and Mr A. S. Kilsby, hon. secretary-treasurer. The estimated cost of establishing the rooms is £125 and Miss Jean Donald is p.ow collecting this sum. COSY THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. The most popular musical show ever presented will be screened tonight “Babes in Arms,” featuring Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. (Recommended by the Censor for Adults).
