DAMAGING BLOWS
STRUCK BY TflE R.A.F. IN LIBYA WAVES OF BOMBERS ATTACK TRIPOLI. AXIS TRANSPORT COLUMNS HARRIED. LONDON, February 6. Yet another raid has been made by the R.A.F. on Tripoli. Yesterday morning, wave after wave of bombers attacked the transport depot, which included workshops, ■ warehouses and vehicles. Many explosions occurred and our planes left fires burning which could be seen 60 miles away. This operation ..began a successful day’s work by our planes. In extensive operations they destroyed enemy transport columns and enemy troops suffered heavy casualties. An enemy aircraft was shot down and others were damaged. All our planes returned safely. On land, there has been considerable patrol activity by both sides. It is stated in London that while the main forces have yet to be engaged, the initiative appears to remain with General Rommel. VICHY HELPING ROMMEL. Details were given in London today of the manner in which the Vichy Government is believed to have been helping General Rommel in the Western Desert. Vichy is sending military supplies to Tunisia, ostensibly to replace those surrendered to the German Armistice Commission, In reality these supplies were never intended to reach the French Army, but are passed on to General Rommel. This traffic is difficult to intercept on account of the short sea passage to Tunisia, i
Reports from America state that the supplies conveyed to Rommel in this way include trucks, fuel and food.
