» WAR SITUATION REVIEWED BY PREMIER. PREPARATIONS FOR DEFENCE OF DOMINION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The secret session to enable members to hear and discuss the latest developments in connection with the war situation generally and New Zealand's war effort was continued in the House of Representatives yesterday. At the conclusion of the sitting at 5.22 p.m. the following official report was issued by the direction of the Speaker, Mr Barnard: “The Prime Minister reviewed the whole war situation, dealing with the operations in each theatre. The Pacific area received particular attention, both from the strategic and political points of view, and details were given of diplomatic exchanges on those aspects of the present situation. Information was later given of preparations made for the defence .of th.is country and of other areas in which the Dominion is particularly interested, and of the progress that has been made in obtaining equipment and increasing the production of war material. Eighteen other speakers in addition to the Prime Minister participated in the discussion. The House adjourned till 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
