METHODIST CHURCH
LADIES’ GUILD. BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Masterton Methodist Ladies’ Guild, Mrs G. F. Kings presided over a fair attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Shoosmith, Nielsen, Lindsay, Hendry and Miss Jackson. Mrs Kings referred to the death of an old and highly-esteemed member, Mrs M. Jackson. The secretary was instructed to convey to Miss Jackson, on behalf of the members, their deepest sympathy with her in the death of her mother. The secretary was requested to convey to Mrs A. H. Falloon, whose son is posted as missing, the sympathy of the members, and to express the hope that news concerning his safety would soon be received. A most inetresting letter was read by Mrs F. C. Daniell, describing the flight to the Middle East of a bomber piloted by her son, Pilot Officer Rex Daniell. It was unanimously decided that hand sewing and knitting for patriotic purposes be undertaken at future meetings. Two pianoforte solos rendered by Mrs Barns were greatly appreciated. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mesdames Daniell and Barns for having entertained the meeting. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies.
