ST. LUKE’S CHURCH LADIES’ GUILD MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The first meeting for the new year of the .St. Luke’s Ladies Guild took place yesterday afternoon. The Rev. J. C. Abbott briefly addressed the Guild, and wished the members success in their year's work on behalf of the church. Mrs A. D. Burch (vice-president) took the chair for the meeting. Mrs Stringfellow was welcomed as a new member. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Burns and Benseman. Members stood in silence for a few moments in sympathy with Mesdames Burch and Wood, who had recently suffered bereavements. - A letter was received from Canon Sykes wishing the Ladies’ Guild success in the new year. He said he would often think of the happy times he had spent in the past at the Guild meetings. Mrs Shedden appealed for clothing on behalf of All Saints’ Children’s Home, Palmerston North. Members agreed to bring garments to the next meeting. , Afternoon tea was handed round. TOWN HALL TOMORROW’S PROGRAMME. Tomorrow at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., “North West Mounted Police,” will be screened. The picture features Gary Cooper and Madeleine Carroll, who are supported by six other stars. (Approved for Universal Exhibition).
