In order to safeguard Argentine territory during the present international crisis the Acting-President, Mr Castillo, has announced the retention under arms till the end of the year of the 1921 class, which is scheduled for dismissal on March 31, also the mobilisation of reserve officers and noncommissioned officers of other classes, which will place 100,000 men on active duty during 1942. As measures for the fuller protection of the coastline infantry units will be stationed at strategic ' coastal points and the navy will undertake intensive patrols. Aerial strength will be increased, especially in southern territories. Finally the police are intensifying vigilance to prevent sabotage of public services and industrial plants. This step is believed to be in consequence of an extraordinary sequence of fires recently in the port of Buenos Aires.
