Nurses Jean Stewart and N. Murphy, of Palmerston North, who had been visiting Mrs Stewart Church Street, Masterton, have left for Alfredton, where they are the guests of Mrs K. Wilton. At the Turakina Caledonian Society’s gathering on Saturday, Pipe-Major Murdo Mackenzie, of Masterton, won the North Island championship in marches, was first in the slow march, and first in strathspeys and reels. The death of Mrs Elizabeth Jane Evans, Hastings, occurred on Sunday while she was on a visit to Wellington. She lived in Otaki for many years and was a staunch member of the Otaki Anglican Church, the Women’s Institute and the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. ] The names of eight young New Zea- 1 landers who have been selected as the 1942 entrants to the Royal Military College, Duntroon, Australia, have 1 been announced by the Minister of De- < fence, Mr Jones. The following are the names of the chosen candidates:— 1 'David Morris Belton, Christchurch; Colin Cleland Boyce, Patea; Frank Harold Childs, Levin; Henry Brian Conway, Wellington; lan Richard Dig- 1 gle, Napier; Kenneth Charles Fenton, Lower Hutt; Howard Leighton Jones, Wanganui; Graeme Hunter Littlejohn, Wellington. At St. Barnabas’ Church Mt. Eden, Auckland, last month, Sergeant Keith ' Rex Orsborn, of the New Zealand Air Force, and third son of Mr and Mrs E. G. Orsborn, Masterton, was married to ( Miss Audrew Leonore Cliffe, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. H. Cliffe, i of Mangawhare, Dargaville. The bride was attended by Misses Ailsa Cliffe c and Joan Bradley, while Doreen Orsborn and Rowan Henry were flower £ girls. The bridegroom wal attended by Corporal Jack Pickford as best man, and Corporal Gordon Willetts as groomsman.
