CLEAR CALL
ASSISTANCE FOR RUSSIA , SOVIET ARMY’S NEED. POSSIBILITIES OF GERMAN j CATASTROPHE. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, January 29. The “Star,” in a leading article on General Gororov who. as commander in the Mojaisk sector is well qualifiedto speak, states that the Soviet tank factories continue to turn out many tanks but the issue partly depends on the fulfilment of obligations entered into by the Allies of Russia regarding the supply of tanks. The “Star” adds: “That is a clear call that must be met at all costs. No bad news from the Far East, no urgent calls for. reinforcements of our own endangered outposts can for a moment stand in the way of General Gororov’s call. If enough weight can be brought to bear now at a few decisive points northwards and southwards of Smolensk the Germans may yet be overtaken by a catastrophe.”
