IMPORTANT GAINS BY MARSHAL TIMOSHENKO’S TROOPS Fifty-Five Miles in Ten Days SOVIET FORCES WITHIN FIFTY MILES OF DNEPROPETROVSK LONDON, January 29. Another sweeping advance on the Russian front is reported by Soviet armies under Marshal Timoshenko. The advance has brought the Russians within 50 miles of Dnepropetrovsk, the great industrial centre on the Dneiper. The Russians have advanced 55 miles in ten days and nave increased their threat to Kharkov and have captured two important towns, besides 400 villages. The German losses m the ten days’ fighting are 25,000 killed. Among the huge quantity of booty captured is 100,000 mines, several hundred trucks and several thousand carts and horses. x South-west of Moscow the Russians have captured Myaolevsk and another town.
