BOWLING CLUB COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Further games in the Carterton Bowling Club’s competitions have been played as follows: — Colts singles: Foss beat Goulder, 17/15; Daysh beat Goulder, 30/20. Progressive pairs: Foster and A. J. Thompson (s) beat E. T. Beaven and A. Tucker (s), 28/14. Champion pairs: Larsen and Soren'sen (s) beat Pankhurst and Harp (s), 30/16. DeLacey Buttons: The holders, McCarty and Daysh, lost to the challengers, Irwin and Harrington (s), 27/11. The following draw has been made for the championship pairs: Harrington (s) v Barr (s); Riggs (s) v Sorensen (s); Tucker a bye (2 life). RED CROSS SOCIETY VOLUNTARY AIDS REQUIRED. Voluntary Aids are urgently required by the local branch of the Red Cross Society and tuition classes will commence on Monday, February 2. Women between the ages of 16 and 45 who desire to train are requested to attend at the Dalefield Company's buildings at 7.30 p.m. on Monday when lectures will commence. Personal Items. ' Miss Hughla Avis McPhee, of Greytown, has been successful in passing an intermediate examination for elocution. Mr P. A. Cole, Town Clerk, has received a letter from Nurse Smart, who left recently for duty overseas, thanking the Mayor, Councillors and residents of. Carterton for their good wishes and for the hold-all sent prior to her leaving New Zealand, and which was her most useful belonging. Miniature Rifle Range. It is probable that the Carterton Miniature Rifle Club’s range in the State Theatre will be put into use ' again shortly by the military. Terminating Building Society. At a meeting of the Wairarapa Terminating Building Society last evening, no tenders were received for an appropriation of £6OO. A ballot which was substituted was won by Mrs C. Earl, of Kent Street, Carterton. Fire Auxiliary, Members of the Carterton Fire Brigade Auxiliary Corps were given instruction in fire fighting on the Carterton showgrounds last evening. ActingSuperintendent J. L. Churchouse supervised the practice, which was a dry one. REGENT THEATRE TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. Tonight there will be shown at the Regent Theatre the spectacular drama “Wyoming,” featuring Wallace Beery, Ann Rutherford, Leo Carrillo, Lee Bowman, Paul Kelly, Joseph Calleia, Marjorie Main and Bobs Watson. (Recommended by Censor for Adults.) Also “Flowing Gold,” with John Garfield and Francis Farmer in the leading roles will also be shown. (Recommended by Censor for Adults.)
