INDIA’S FORCES
FIFTY THOUSAND VOLUNTEERS MONTHLY. EXPANSION OF AIR FORCE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, January 26. Fifty thousand men are volunteering every month for Indian land, sea, and air forces, while an army of more than 1,000,000 is trained and equipped ready to defend India, should she be attacked, said Dewan Bahadur Runganadhan of the Indian Office. The Indian air force is being rapidly expanded. Units of the Royal Indian Navy, manned by Indians as well as European officers and Indian ratings, are co-operating in the Battle of the Atlantic and carrying out various duties in the Indian Ocean.
