POSITION IN BURMA

Evacuation of Southern Area MILITARY TAKE OVER MOULMEIN LONDON, January 27. A R.A.F. communique from Rangoon states that British bombers attacked roads under enemy occupation. An area in the southern tip of Burma has been evacuated. All stores have been brought away by our troops. The operations have been proceeding for the past week. Eight enemy bombers flew over Rangoon and dropped leaflets as well as bombs. Only slight damage and no casualties resulted. Moulmein has been taken over by the military authorities \in preparation for future operations. \
