EKETAHUNA

COUNTY COUNCIL MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna County Council, Mr A. J. Carruthers was in the chair. Others present were Crs H. N. and R. W. Kebbell, F. M. Goggin; A. J. Perry, P. Davies, J. Petersen, T. R. Hancock, L. Houlbrooke, C. Davie. An apology for absence was received from Cr. C. Richardson. The contractor reported that he had completed the Waitewhiti bridge. The contractors have arrived on No. 477 Main Highway and are about to give the road a sealing of oil. It was reported that the Public Works Department favoured a reinforced concrete box culvert at McLennan’s. Good progress is being made with the new county offices and workshops. It was stated that much of the flood repair work damage on the Masterton-Weber Road arid on the Eketahuna-Alfredton Road had been completed. A number of county men who had been released to assist in seasonal operations have returned to their usual occupation. First Black-out. Eketahuna experienced its first black-out on Sunday evening.
