GREYTOWN
OBITUARY MRS JOHN DUNN. (“Times-Age” Special.) The death occurred at the Greytown Hospital yesterday morning of Mrs John Dunn, at the age of 81 years. The iate Mrs Dunn, who had been a sufferer for years, had resided practically all her life in the Wairarapa.
Born in England, she came to New Zealand when she was 14 years of age and except for a short period in Christchurch, had resided ever since 1 ' in the Wairarapa. Her husband pre- . deceased her in the 1918 influenza epii demic. Two sons, Messrs Percy Dunn • (Greytown) and John Dunn (Australia) and five daughters, Mesdames G. R. Garrett (Masterton). W. H. Garrett 1 (Brancepeth), G. Wilson, S. E. Barrett 1 (Greytown) and V. Nicholson (Petone) 1 are left to mourn their loss, besides over 30 grandchildren and several ; great grandchildren. ' The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the son’s residence. Greytown, following a service at 2 p.m. for the Greytown Cemetery. SOLDIERS' DANCE SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The Soldiers’ Dance Committee held a very successful dance in the Town Hall on Friday evening. The supper tables were tastefully decorated by Mrs Jack Bull. Te Tau's Orchestra supplied excellent music. Extras were played by Mr T. Drysdale and Mrs Drysdale (piano accordion). Supper extras were played by soldiers. Mr A. G. Nisbet acted as M.C. Final Sermon. Canon Sykes preached his final sermon in St Luke’s Church last evening. His sermon was taken from the 2.3 rd Psalm; “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” Canon and the Misses Sykes returned to Upper Hutt today. Persona! Items. Misses B. and J. Feast were Wellington visitors to Greytown at the weekend. Miss Maureen O’Connor, Wellington, is a guest of Miss Betty Kiernan, East Street. Gunner A. G. Carter, of Palmerston North, was home for the weekend. Mr Geo. Maloney has returned from 1 a holiday spent in Christchurch. ] Mrs E. Thomas, of Island Bay, is the ■ guest of Mrs F. Brooks, Main Street. ] The many friends of Mr F. Brooks i will regret to hear he is at present an i inmate of the Greytown Hospital. ] Mr S. Shedden has returned from ] Dannevirke. , Major H. G. Carter left on Saturday for Dannevirke to attend a Battalion Commanders’ Home Guard course. Mr and Mrs H. Langley were visi- : tors to Greytown at the weekend. , Mr J. Skeet, of Masterton, spent the ; weekend with Mr W. H. Hay. McMas- ' ter Street. TOWN HALL ■ TOMORROW’S PROGRAMME.
