TRAPPED ON BRIDGE

SHEEP FARMER KILLED ;BY EXPRESS TRAIN. TRAGEDY AT SILVERHOPE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, This Day. Trapped on the railway bridge at. Silverhope, 12 miles north of Marton, William Kepson Morton, a sheep farmer aged 62, was run down and killed by the south-bound Limited Express at 6.5 a.m. today. Police inquiries reveal that Mr Morton was running to get clear of the bridge when he caught his foot and fell in front of the train. The bridge is only 30 yards south of Silverhope and Mr Morton’s property is on both sides of the railway line. He was in the habit of making an inspection of his sheep between 5 and 6 a.m. each day, making the rounds on one side of the line and returning by way of the other.
