SALVATION ARMY
RED SHIELD CENTRE POPULAR., The facilities now available at the Salvation Army’s Red Shield centre in Masterton, continue to be increasingly patronised by service men. Thanks to the generosity of many local residents in providing furnishings, books, magazines, games, etc., it is becoming possible to cater for the social and recreational needs of the men on an ever increasing scale. Particularly acceptable donations during the past few days include a wireless set and a gramophone and records. The writing room is- a much appreciated adjunct while the provision of refreshments appears 'to be a popular service. Major and Mrs Ransom continue to be well supported by an enthusiastic band of helpers whose efforts so far augur well for the future success of the centre. Further suitable donations, to maintain and improve the centre’s amenities will be gratefully received. At the conclusion of Sunday’s evening service there will be a popular “sing song” and supper will be provided for all servicemen in attendance.
