MANY FACTORIES
CLOSED IN FRANCE FOR LACK OF MATERIALS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, January 21. “The Times” correspondent on the French frontier reports that a scarcity of electricity has resulted in the closing of 49 Paris underground stations. Numerous French factories are closed because of the lack of raw materials. The Vichy Government has levied a profits tax on industries to assist the unemployed.
