MASTERTON SALE KEEN COMPETITION FOR LAMBS. PRICES SHOW IMPROVEMENT. The Associated Auctioneers report on their Masterton sale, held yesterday, as follows: —A full yarding of sheep, which consisted mainly of good black-face and white-face rape lambs, came forward and attracted a large attendance of local buyers. Competition for good lambs suitable for rape was keen, and prices improved as the sale progressed. Good forward b.f. lambs were in demand, making from 18s to 19s, the latter price being obtained for a nice line offered on account of Mr T. A. Brown. Other lines made from 16s 6d, 17s 6d to 18s. Good white-face wether lambs, suitable for fattening, realised from 15s to 16s 6d, while one very forward line made 17s 6d. A well-grown line of shorn wether lambs offered on account of Mr F, W. Parry brought 16s 9d. Ewe lambs were also keenly competed for, making to 17s for medium sorts. , Two-tooth wethers also showed an improved market, bringing up to 18s Id. There was a large entry in the fat section, prices remaining on a par with last week’s quotations. A small yarding of pigs attracted competition, and weaners brought from Ign. to 235. A total clearance was effected under the hammer, and the following list of principal sales will indicate values:—Good b.f. rape lambs, 19s; do., 18s Id; others, 16s 6d, 17s to 18s; good w.f. wether lambs, 14s lOd, 15s 6d to 16s 6d; very forward condition do., 17s 6d; medium b.f. lambs, 14s to 14s 3d; small do., 10s to 12s; medium w.f. wether lambs, 13s to 13s 9d; small do., 9s to 12s; medium ewe lambs, 14s 7d to 17s; shorn w.f. wether lambs, good, 16s, 16s 9d to 16s lOd; medium do., 14s; 2-tooth wethers, 18s 2d; medium do., 16s 7d to 17s 6d; fat wethers, light, 19s 9d to 20s; fat S.D. ewes, Ils; fat ewes, Bs, 8s 6d to 9s 6d; fat lambs, 23s 9d. Pigs—Weaners, 21s, 22s to 235. PAHIATUA SALE. SATISFACTORY VALUES. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on their Pahiatua sale this week: Approximately 5000 sheep were yarded and offered to a large attendance of the public. Realisations for top sheep were on a par with last week’s rates, while medium and cull lambs showed a slight appreciation on our last sale. The demand for top quality lambs remains very keen and with vendors putting their entries on the market early, we are pleased to report a total clearance at auction at very satisfactory values. Quotations: Top quality shorn w. lambs, 17s, 16s 9d, 16s 7d to 16s. Medium shorn w. lambs, 15s 6d, 15s 3d, 14s lOd, to 12s. Woolly w. lambs (good), 15s 6d, 15s 3d to 15s. Woolly w. lambs (med), 14s to Ils 6d. Ewe lambs, 17s, 16s lOd, 16s 9d to 11s. Cull w. lambs, Ils to 6s. Two-tooth wethers, 18s 6d to 16s Bd. Weaner pigs, 17s 6d, 15s to 12s 6d.
