Mr Charles Southey Hawkins, 66, retired carrier, was killed instantly when struck by the engine of a goods train which left the Wanganui railway station at 3 p.m. today. The accident occurred at a suburban level crossing a mile from Wanganui. Mr Hawkins was a widower.
