RED CROSS SOCIETY ENJOYABLE DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large crowd at the Red Cross Society's dance held on Saturday night. Te Tau’s Orchestra supplied the music and Mr V. Kempton acted as M.C. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Nurse Brophy and partner. The dance was a most enjoyable one. BOWLING CHAMPION PAIRS COMPETITION. Playing in the champion pairs, Burden and Kiernan beat Connolly and/ Carter on the 22nd head, and Duff and Maddison beat Reid and Burns. In the singles games, Dewhirst beat Maddison, McLeod beat Burns, Higgison beat Skeet. Combined Service. There was a large attendance at St Luke’s Church lass evening, r the service being a combined one of Anglican and Methodist congregations. The Rev Canon Sykes preached the sermon and Mr L. A. D.. Hayman (Methodist Church) read the lesson. Personal Items. Canon and Mrs Sykes and family left Greytown for Upper Hutt today, where they will in future reside. Canon Sykes will return next Sunday to preach his final service in St Luke’s Church, prior to his retirement. Mrs W. Carwell Cooke, of Palmerston North, who has been s’taying with her mother, Mrs C. Duff, Main Street, returned home on Saturday. Miss Margaret Eccles was a weekend visitor to her mother, Mrs E. P. Eccles, McMaster Street. TOWN HALL TOMORROW’S PROGRAMME. A special matinee will be held tomorrow at 2.30 p.m. as well as the usual evening session at 8 o’clock when “Torrid Zone,” with Pat O’Brien and James Cagney in the chief roles, will be screened. (Recommended by Censor for adults.)
