SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED
TEA AT Y.M.C.A. ROOMS. Over 150 soldiers were entertained at tea last night by the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A., in the Y.M.C.A. rooms. The vice-president, Mr G. Masters, presided in the absence of the president, Mr E. M. Hodder. The Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, chairman of the Masterton Patriotic Committee, welcomed the men. Vocal items were contributed by Mr Pi. G. Gilbert, Mr Miller Hope playing the accompaniments. The assembly later enjoyed community singing for an hour, Mr Jack Barnes being at the piano. Among those present were Messrs G. Briggs, of the Y.M.C.A. National Headquarters, and Te Hira Ferguson, district organiser.
