GENERAL FREYBERG
PRAISED BY GREEK PRINCE. UNCONSCIOUS OF DANGER. LONDON. January 16. . “General Freyberg is magnificent,’’ declared Prince Peter of Greece, when addressing the New Zealand Forces Club in London today. ' Prince Peter is on leave from the Middle East, where he is the Greek Army’s liaison officer with the British Army. He was previously with MajorGeneral Freyberg in the Greece and Crete campaigns. “I remember encountering Freyberg in the middle of an air raid on Argos, and he was absolutely unconscious of danger," Prince Peter said. “I have never been so struck by a man’s courage. «He has absolutely no notion of fear of danger. The only precaution he took when he drove about in ail' raids was to put an A.D.C. on the running board to observe that the bombs were not coming too close to us.” The Prince added: “The other day Freyberg turned up at a New Zealand football match in dusty battle dress straight from the Libyan front. After the match he got into his car and returned to the front.”
