CARTERTON SALE FAT SHEEP MAKE LATE VALUES. IMPROVED PRICES FOR CATTLE. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—There was a fair entry at our Carterton sale yesterday, lambs being predominant among the sheep entry. Fat sheep made late values. Black-face rape . lambs were keenly sought after and realised good prices. Cull w.f. lambs also sold well. Cattle showed an improvement in price and pigs sold at late rates. The following are the prices obtained:— Sheep: Fat wethers, 21s; fat lambs, to 24s 6d; b.f. 2-ths., to 17s 9d; 2-th. ewes, to 26s Id; 6-th. ewes, to 22s 6d; f.m. ewes, to 8s; b.f. lambs, 18s to 18s 4d; medium b.f. lambs, 13s 9d, 14s lOd, 16s, 16s Id to 16s 7d; small b.f. lambs, 8s 7d to 11s; woolly wr. lambs, to 13s Id;
small shorn wr. lambs, 6s 6d to 8s 6d; small shorn ewe lambs, to 8s 3d. Cattle: Cows and calves, £5 10s £6 10s to £7; fat cows, £5 to £7; forward cows, £3 10s to £4 2s 6d. Pigs: Heavy porkers, to £2 15s; porkers, £2 Is, £2 3s 6d, £2 6s, to £2 7s; light porkers, 35s to 375; store pigs, 28s to 34s 6d; weaners, from 23s 6d.
