WESTFIELD HOLD-UP

f PROCEEDINGS AGAINST OFFENDERS WARNING BY MINISTER. NO EXCUSE DURING PRESENT CRISIS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. An announcement that he had given instructions to the Labour Department to take proceedings against everyone associated with the Westfield Freezing Works hold-up was made by the Minister of Labour, Mr P. C. Webb. He added: “If the Union of which they were part supported them it would be deregistered forthwith.” Mr Webb said: “If the men concerned refused to return to normal work they would be excluded from industry for the duration of the war. Whatever excuse the men might have had in the past there was no excuse now, with danger surrounding us, for any stupid action. The Government took the most serious view of any such actions. Should there be a grievance there was ample machinery for it to be ventilated without any interference with production.”
