FIRE AMONG SAWDUST A CALL TO THE BRIGADE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Greytown Fire Brigade received a call to the plains yesterday afternoon where the sawdust deposits from the old sawmill had caught fire. With ■the aid of a suction pump borrowed from a local market garden the fire was subdued before any material damage was done. Bowling. 1 In the champion singles J. Reid beat J. Burden and W. Higgison beat E. Skeet. Personal. On Thursday last, Mrs Rees Senr., Greytown, entertained the local ministers at an enjoyable farewell afternoon tea, at her home in McMaster Street. The Revs. G. Knowles-Smith and L. Hayman wished “Godspeed” to Canon and Mrs Sykes and Miss Sykes, who will leave shortly to make their home at Upper Hutt, and to Mr V. Weston, who is being transferred to Napier. TOWN HALL TOMORROW’S PROGRAMME. There will be two sessions tomorrow, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., when the most refreshing comedy ever seen will be screened, viz., “Pride and Prejudice” with Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson in the leading roles. (Recommended by the Censor for adults).
