POSITION IN MALAYA

Indications of Further Withdrawal FURTHER AIR RAIDS ON SINGAPORE LONDON, January 15. There is no fresh news of land fighting in Malaya. It is pointed out in London that operations are in progress and the commander does not want to give away any disposition of his troops. This does not mean that our withdrawal has stopped. Port Swettenham is in enemy hands. Enemy aircraft raided Singapore Island this morning. Little military damage was done. One plane was shot down by British fighters. Several of the enemy aircraft which carried out a raid on Southern Malaya today are believed to have been damaged. The attack was made in small formations and the raiders were engaged by British fighters and anti-aircraft gunfire.
