ATTITUDE OF TURKEY
WILL FIGHT TO DEFEND INDEPENDENCE.
BRITISH AMBASSADOR’S VIEW.
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.35 a.m.) ANKARA, January 13.
Sir Hugh Knatchbull-Hugessen (British Ambassador) told pressmen that M. Molotov had asked him what Turkey’s attitude was in the present situation, to which he replied: “Under Ataturk, the Turks fought for their independence and won. They will fight again if their independence is threatened, but otherwise will remain neutral.”
M. Molotov concurred in this view.
