OF STRUGGLE IN SOUTH-WEST PACIFIC Taken by Netherlands Indies Official ANTICIPATION OF EARLY AMERICAN AID BELIEVES SINGAPORE WILL HOLD OUT (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, January 13. The Lieutenant Governor-General of the Netherlands East Indies, Dr H. J. Van Hook, declared that United States aid was expected to arrive in time to repulse the Japanese thrust towards the East Indies. Dr Van Hook said he believed Singapore would hold out. He is en route to Washington.
