ASSURANCE OF FRIENDSHIP POSSIBILITY OF GERMAN ATTACK. “LUNATIC IN CHARGE OF ORCHESTRA.” (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, January 13. In an interview with Turkish newspaper men, the British Ambassador to Turkey, Sir Hugh Knatchbull-Huges-son denied a Berlin allegation that Britain had agreed that Russia should control the Dardanelles. Sir Hugh assured the pressmen that Russia had no designs on Turkey. Britain and Russia had also assured Iran that they would respect her independence and integrity. Asked whether Russia believed that Germany would attack Turkey, the British Ambassador said Russia shared with Britain the view that “with a lunatic in charge of the orchestra, •it is not possible to predict what tune will be played.”
