MOTOR FATALITY
TRUCK GOES OVER BANK A MAORI KILLED. ACCIDENT NEAR WAIROA. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, January 13. One Maori was killed and another was slightly injured when the truck they were travelling in crashed over a bank on the main road 11 miles from Wairoa at 2 p.m. today. They were crushed by a heavy hay-pressing machine, which was being transported on the back of their truck. KILLED. William Harrison, aged 46, a married man, of Frasertown. INJURED. Edward Moctu, abrasions and head injuries.
The truck, driven by Harrison, was travelling toward Mohaka when the Occident occurred. Failing to negotiate a sharp bend, the heavy vehicle went nose first down a 50-foot bank, the pressing-machine wrecking the cab and trapping the occupants.
