AIR WARFARE

NAZI FIGHTERS SHOT DOWN IN FRANCE ANOTHER DAMAGING ATTACK ON BREST. TWO BRITISH BOMBERS LOST. LONDON. January 9. R.A.F. fighters on patrol over Occupied France yesterday destroyed two enemy fighters in air battles, without loss to themselves. Two enemy aircraft appeared off' the south-east coast of England this morning. A small number of people were wounded by machine-gun fire. The German occupied naval base at Brest was raided last night for the fourth night in succession and the fifth time this week. The raid was made by a strong force of bombers, which left many fires burning in the area where the three German warships are sheltering. The docks at Cherbourg were also bombed. Two of our planes are missing.
