BREAD DELIVERIES

V TO CEASE AFTER TOMORROW IN MASTERTON AND CARTERTON BOROUGHS. MOVE TO CONSERVE PETROL. The delivery of bread to private customers in Masterton and Carterton is to cease after, tomorrow. This step is necessitated by the need to conserve petrol. Stating that the position was due to the war situation, Mr W. V. Madden, secretary of the Master Bakers’ Association, said that the last delivery of bread to private customers would be made tomorrow in both Masterton and Carterton boroughs. Bakers would notify their customers of the nearest depot at which bread could be obtained. The bakers, said Mr Madden, sought the co-operation of the public in changing over to the new scheme. It was particularly essential to place orders for bread on the previous day and to take wrapping - paper or some other receptacle when collecting the bread. Although some little inconvenience might be caused during the first day or two, it was felt that the new scheme would quickly work smoothly.
