LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST IMPROVEMENT PROMISED. CONDITIONS BECOMING FAIR. The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Southerly winds, fresh at times in exposed positions, but gradually decreasing. A few isolated showers at first, but weather becoming fair to fine. Temperatures moderate. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Fine. LOCAL REPORTS. Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 29.7; shade temperature, maximum 71.3, minimum 47.8; terrestrial, 29.7; sunshine, 10 hours; rain, 92 points; frost, .7 degrees. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 107 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. PHASES OF THE MOON. New moon, January 17. First quarter, January 24. Full moon, February 2. Last quarter, February 10.
