BY IMPERIAL & ALLIED AIRCRAFT MUCH DAMAGE TO TRANSPORT & TANKS. FIVE ENEMY PLANES SHOT DOWN BY AUSTRALIANS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.8 a.m.) RUGBY, January 2. A R.A.F. Middle East communique states: “Bomber and fighter aircraft of the R.A.F., Australian, South African and Free French air forces made a series of successful attacks on enemy mechanised units in the Jedabaya region yesterday. Much damage was done to enemy motor transport. “Australian aircraft encountered a strong formation of Junkers 88s, escorted by .Messerschmitt 109 s, and shot down four bombers and one fighter, in addition damaging several others.
