HOLIDAY LEAVE
PERMITTED IN AUSTRALIA PROVIDED PRODUCTION » IS MAINTAINED. i: NEW CONTROL OVER PLANE MANUFACTURE. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day. 12.15 p.m.) ! MELBOURNE. This Day. The Federal Premier (Mr Curtin) announced that after January 3, employers would be free to give rostered, annual leave to employees, so long as no dimunition of production was involved. There should be a careful “staggering” of leave to prevent any large number of men being away from any one establishment at the same time. The appointment of Mr Essington Lewis, Director-General of Munitions, as Director-General of Aircraft production and the establishment of an Aircraft Production Co-ordination Committee, which will take over most of the major functions of the present Aircraft Production Commission, will be announced within a' few days. These moves indicate the Government’s determination to give aircraft production priority, and also its. dissatisfaction with the results achieved by the Aircraft Production Commission. Mr Lewis will remain DirectorGeneral of Munitions.
