WEDDING
JONES—COPP. The wedding took place at the Methodist Church, Masterton, yesterday morning of Margaret, second daughter of Mr and Mrs S. Copp, Elizabeth Street, Masterton, to Aircraftman Edward William, eldest son of Mr and Mrs N. R. Jones, Kuripuni Street, Masterton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. S. Kings, and Mrs Speight presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of ivory slipper satin and carried a shower bouquet.
Misses Dorothy Copp (sister of the bride) and Edna Brown, were in attendance as bridesmaids. They were attired in cornflower blue dresses and carried bouquets of carnations and roses.
Mr L. Harrap was best man and Mr R. Copp was groomsman.
During the signing of the register Mrs N. Harrington (Ballance) sang “I’ll Walk Beside You.” As the bridal party left the church Valerie Wootton niece of the bridegroom, presented the bride with a silver horseshoe,
A reception was held at the Empire Hotel where a large number of guests were received by Mesdames Copp and Jones. The former wore a navy blue ensemble and the latter a petrel blue costume. i
Congratulatory telegrams were received from all parts of New Zealand. When Aircraftman and Mrs Jones left for the South Island the bride travelled in a blue frock with coat and accessories to tone.
The bride was recently entertained at a kitchen tea held in the Orange Hall, Masterton, at which Mesdames Cairns and Miller were the hostesses. There was a large attendance and dancing, games, etc., were enjoyed. Mr J. West provided the music and Mr N. Harrington was M.C. In the unavoidable absence of Aircraftman Jones, Mr L. Harrap, on behalf of > Miss Copp, expressed thanks to the hostesses, and to all present for' the many beautiful gifts.
FRASER—NESS. The Knox Presbyterian Church, Masterton, was beautifully decorated yesterday afternoon when Betty Doreen Ness, only daughter of Mrs S. V. Gooding, The Terrace, Masterton, was married to Lieutenant William H. Fraser, only .son of Mr and Mrs J. Fraser, of Hastings. The ceremony was performed by the Rt. Rev. John Davie, and Mr C. W. Kerry presided at the organ.
The bride, who was escorted by her step-father, Lieut. S. V. Gooding, wore a picturesque Tudor frock of taffeta and lame pearl sheer, full trained with applique lace insets. She wore a halo of Christmas lilies and carried a sheaf of St. Joseph lilies. Miss June Riley (Wellington) chief, and Miss M. Fraser, of Hastings, were bridesmaids, and Sandra Cook (Masterton) and Gabriel Eastwood (Masterton) were in attendance as flower girls. All were attired in blue organdie over taffeta. The maids wore Juliet caps and the flower girls pretty little Dutch caps. The former carried sheaves of delphiniums and the latter carried gold baskets with delphiniums and pink carnations. Lieutenant A. Veart, of Trentham, was best man and Captain H. P. Glen (Masterton) was groomsman.
The reception was held at Mr and' Mrs Gooding’s residence at The' Terrace, where many guests were received. Mrs Gooding wore dove grey and Mrs Fraser was attired in a floral frock with a navy coat. A guard of honour was provided by the bridegroom’s fellow officers. Many telegrams were received from various parts of New Zealand. Tire huge three tiered cake was decorated to match the bride’s frock.
When Lieutenant and Mrs Fraser left for the south the bride wore a lavender blue ensemble. Their future home will be in Wellington. The floral decorations at the church and residence and the bouquets were the artistic work of Mrs C. C. Cook. Lieutenant and Mrs Fraser received many beautiful gifts and cheques.
