JOINT BROADCAST

CHURCHILL & ROOSEVELT FROM WASHINGTON ON EVE OF CHRISTMAS. * MAKING FREE.& DECENT WORLD FOR .CHILDREN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.5 a.m.) RUGBY, December 25. Christmas Eve ceremonies at the White House in Washington included a historical joint broadcast by Mr Churchill and President Roosevelt. The latter asked all Americans to signify their faith in “the dignity and brotherhood of man” which they were fighting to uphold. Mr Churchill dedicated Christmas Eve to children, who, he said, should be made happy in the time of storm, “for this night at least.” He added that tomorrow the leaders of the democracies would return to the stern task of sacrifice and daring which would give these children the right to live in a free and decent world.
