JAPANESE CLAIM

AT VARIANCE WITH FACTS. \ MASS RAID ON RANGOON. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, December 23. The Domei News Agency claims that Japanese planes carried out a mass raid on Rangoon from an undisclosed air base and' intensively bombed an aerodrome, hangars, wharves, the railway station, Government offices and barracks. Fifteen British fighters were encountered. All the Japanese planes returned.

A. R.A.F. communique reported that nine Japanese bombers and one enemy fighter were destroyed over Rangoon on Tuesday morning. Several other Japanese aircraft were badly damaged.
