COMMANDER OF CANADIAN, DIVISION NOW HIGH COMMISSIONER TO AUSTRALIA. FINAL MESSAGE TO TROOPS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.0 a.m.) RUGBY, December 23.
Major-General Odium, now Canadian High Commissioner to Australia and formerly commander of the Second Canadian Division, saying goodbye to his troops in a special order of the day, declared that he left the division with nearly a breaking heart. • “In you I have great confidence,” he said. “I am proud of you. I know you will play your part in the game like men. Never before has so small an army faced so great a task. Only by strength of spirit can it win.”
