Ten Enemy Planes Shot Down at Rangoon
There is very little news of the situation in Malaya. A Singapore communique reports no change in the land fighting. In North Malaya the position appears to be unchanged. The British forces are resting and reorganising along a new defensive line along the Perak River. A growing intensity and extension of enemy air attacks is reported. One of these was made on New Guinea, but Dutch planes drove off the raiders before they could do any damage. Ten Japanese planes were shot down over Rangoon today. A RAF communique reports that nine Japanese bombers and one fighter were destroyed and several others severely damaged over Rangoon this morning’.
