MASTERTON SALE
ACTIVE COMPETITION LACKING. RATES FOR FATS MAINTAINED. The Associated Auctioneers held their weekly sale at the Masterton yards yesterday, in very inclement weather. A good yarding of sheep, mostly store wethers, was offered to a very small attendance of buyers and in consequence active competition was lacking. In the fat pen section late rates were maintained, whilst in the store sheep section, values were easier, wethers being Is to Is 6d per head lower. Prices were as follow: — Fat sheep: Fat m.s, b.f. 2ths, 21s 7d; wethers. 20s Id; light fat wethers, 18s 9d; ewes, 8s to Ils Id; fat and forward lambs, w.f., 17s. Fat cattle: Fat heifers, £7; fat cows, £G 15s to £7; fat and forward heifers, £4 15s to £5 10s.
Store sheep: 4th wethers, 17s Id.to 17s 6d; 2th wethers, 16s 6d to 17s; small 2th wethers, 14 to 14s 6d; shorn ewes and b.f. lambs, Ils 4d all counted; s.m. shorn breeding ewes, Ils 2d. Pigs: Weaners, 16s to 17s 6d .
