REGENT THEATRE

“VICTORY.”

The current programme headed by the brilliant picture “Victory,” will be finally shown tonight.

“BITTER SWEET.”

A return to the screen as singing partners of one of the most widelyknown teams of a few years ago, Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy, is made in the picture version of “Bitter Sweet,” by Noel Coward, which will be<shown tomorrow night. Filmed in technicolour, “Bitter Sweet is replete with some of the most delightful music ever to reach the screen. “Bitter Sweet” presents Miss MacDonald as Sarah Millick, Victorian belle, who elopes with her singing teacher, Cail Linden, enacted by Nelson Eddy, and goes to Vienna with him. There, in spite of straitened circumstances, they live an idyllic existence until menace enters in' the form of Baron von Tranisch, of the Imperial Cavalry, who is fond of pretty girls. George Sanders portrays an effectively militaristic von Tranisch and lan Hunter an equally disarming Lord Shayne. Although a dramatic presentation, it never loses its charm, and comedy is not lacking. Many songs are presented, among them being “I’ll See You Again,” “What Is Love?” “Our Little Cafe,” “Serenade in Vienna” and “Love in Any Language.”
