AUSTRALIAN WAR COUNCIL. ANNOUNCEMENT BY FEDERAL PREMIER. LONDON, December 17. In Canberra, the Commonwealth Prime Minister, Mr J. W, Curtin, announced that the Government had decided to increase the authority and functions of the Advisory War Council, a body which includes members of the Opposition. In future, international questions, high strategy and world affairs generally would be dealt with by the Council and its recommendations as a rule would be regarded as confirmed by the War Cabinet.
