CHILDREN’S HOME

ANNUAL REUNION.

ENJOYABLE GATHERING LAST

NIGHT.

At the Masterton Methodist Children’s Home last evening the Christmas tea and annual reunion was held. Mr F. E. Wells, chairman of the local management committee, presided. Mr E. W. Kellow, of Wellington, attended as representative of the parent body—the Wellington Methodist Charitable and Educational Endowments.

Many visitors were present, including a number of the old boys and girls of the Home. Greetings and apologies for absence were received from several of the old boys and girls who were unable to be present. After the loyal toast had been honoured, Dr. Prior proposed the toast of the Methodist boys overseas. He made special reference to four old boys of the Home who were with the forces — two in Canada, completing their training as airmen, one was with the N.Z. forces in Egypt and another with the N.Z. forces in England. After tea the party adjourned to the play house to attend a concert given by the children. The children had been trained for the occasion by Miss Ivy Donald, and the latter portion of the programme was taken up with a community sing. Mr Kellow, on behalf of the Wellington Board, presented the matron and each member of the staff with a gift as a token of appreciation of their willing service in the interests of the children. He also conveyed to all present best wishes for. Christmas and the New Year.

Father Christmas from a gaily decorated Christmas tree presented a gift to each child in the Home, old boys and girls, staff and members of the management committee. The singing of the Doxology brought to a close a gathering which was much enjoyed.
