CROQUET
PARK CLUB. PRESENTATION TO MRS DONNELLY. The Park Croquet Club held a “competition day” yesterday and at the same time farewelled Mrs Donnelly (president) who is leaving to reside in Gisborne. Half-hour croquet occupied players until afternoon tea time when an adjournment was made to the pavilion. Mrs I. I. McGregor (vice-president) expressed the regret the members felt at losing one who had endeared herself to all. She wished Mrs Donnelly every happiness in her new home. Mrs McGregor then presented Mrs Donnelly with a posy of carnations and asked her to accept on behalf of the club a silver cake dish. Mesdames Bassett and Polson spoke in a similar strain. Mrs Donnelly feelingly thanked everyone for their gift and Mrs McGregor for her kind expression of goodwill. The competitions resulted as follows: —Half-hour croquet A grade: Mrs Polson; B grade, Mrs Dunderdale; C grade, Mrs McMaster. Lowest score, Mrs Doggett. Hitting the peg: Mrs Scrivener. Roquet to peg: Mrs Donnelly. A competition for visitors was won by Mrs Miller Hope.
