CHAMPIONSHIP CONTESTS.

MANY INTERESTING GAMES.

During, the week the first round of the Park Bowling Club’s championship singles was completed, there being many interesting games. Trevorrow defeated Kilgour, 21/18 on the last end. H. Smith defeated H. Thompson, 19/17. The remaining games resulted:—Jenkins defeated Fenton, 24/9; E. Brown defeated S. Lee, 25/10; O’Donnell defeated Taylor, 25/14; and Simpson defeated Andrews, 21/12. In the pairs Braggins and Staniforth (s), after maintaining the lead until the 16th end, lost to Trevorrow and Simpson (s), 16/21, and Buckley and P. Thompson (s) defeated Carpenter and Ferguson (s), 23/9. Kilgour and H. Thompson (s) were successful in their challenge for the Grady Medals, defeating McLeod and Higgison (s), Greytown, 20/19. After a most interesting game for the Keetley Medals, the holders, Lee and O’Donnell (s) defeated G. Brown and Spackman (s), 20/19. On Saturday there was a good _ attendance of bowlers, including a visitor from Lower Hutt, and Mr Robertson, president of the Dunedin Club. Great interest is being shown in next Saturday’s innovation, when the Colonials will play the Rest. Mr H. M. Smith will select the Colonial teams, and Mr H. Carr will choose the teams to represent those born outside New Zealand. The players will be evenly divided, and some interesting games should result. Members are particularly urged to be punctual. x The first round of the pairs is to be completed by December 20, and every endeavour is to be made to complete the second round of the singles by Wednesday, December 24.
