A report ,which is being prepared for President Roosevelt by his closest advisers will urge that a major effort be made to increase aircraft production. A bomber output of 5,000 machines ,a month will be sought as quickly as possible. The authorities are now convinced of the power of aircraft as a striking force in sea warfare and technicians will be set the task of increasing the range both of bombers and. fighters, in order, to diminish the necessity of close-in bases in the furthest Pacific, from which to launch the strongest offensive against the Japanese islands, bases and navy.
