SCHOOL BREAKUP CEREMONIES. Educational activities for 1941 will be brought to a close throughout the district in the next week or so when break-up and other ceremonies will be held to mark the end of the school year. The year’s session at Wairarapa College will conclude with a break-up ceremony on Monday night at which the Mayor of Masterton, Mr T. Jordan, will be the speaker. The ceremony will commence at 8 p.m. in the College Assembly Hall. The Solway College break-up ceremony is being held tonight. The speaker will be the Right Rev. John Davie. The Ven. Archdeacon W. Bullock will give the address at the St. Matthew’s Collegiate School break-up on December 17. The Masterton Central School will hold a Parents’ Day and sports gathering on Tuesday and in the evening the pupils of Standard 6 will present a programme in the Assembly Hall. The. school will break-up on Thursday, December 18. A display of work and a Parents’ Day will be held at Lansdowne School. The Masterton West School held a Parents’ Day today* at which a display of work was shown and items were given by the children. The ladies of the Home and School Association did invaluable work in dispensing tea, etc., to all present. At the break-up next week Mr E. R. Rogers will be the speaker.
