MR J. F. DONNELLY FAREWELLED Prior to his departure from Masterton, Mr J. F. Donnelly, who was recently promoted to Gisborne, was farewelled by the staff of the Masterton Post Office and presented with a suitable memento of his long association with the Masterton Telegraph and Telephone branches and a gift for Mrs Donnelly. In making the presentation, the Postmaster (Mr M. M. Simpson) referred to Mr Donnelly’s efficiency and devotion to duty; his wide knowledge of men, his patience and understanding with juniors. Mr Simpson said that Mr Donnelly’s duties often brought him into contact with people in distress and he was at all times sympathetic and helpful. Several other members of the staff eulogised the services given by Mr Donnelly and his readiness at all times to co-operate with other' branches. In thanking his late colleagues for their kindness Mr Donnelly referred to the difficulties which the’Department is experiencing under war conditions and urged all members of the Department to assist to the best of their ability in maintaining the services given by the Post and Telegraph Department.
